We were created in order to be united with God. Love is the path to God:
”Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself” (Luke 10,27).
Herein lies the Law of God. The only reason God had for creating you was His love. This is the only reason.
If you have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, you have nothing.paraphrase for 1 Corinthians 13, 1-3
And the reason for being free to love lies in the fact that God loved you first.
Now, is love something we could learn? Undoubtedly.
But we should not learn about it from the world since the world knows nothing about love. You can find true love only in Christ and only in Him you can truly love. Christ did not say: there are many ways leading to God. He said:
I am the way and the truth and the life. (John 14, 6)
Without Him we do not have a thing. And unfortunately most of us do not have a thing.
