Today I came to judge extraneous sins…

A monk once made a mistake at the skete and it was made a gathering and they sent after abba Moses, but he didn`t want to come.

So the priest sent after him saying:

`Come as the people are waiting for you.`

He got up and came with a perforated basket and filling it with sand he was carrying it along.

They came to welcome him and asked him:

`What is this, father?`

The elder told them:

`My sins are behind me falling down and I don`t see them and I came today to judge extraneous sins.

When they heard him they didn`t say a thing to their brother and they forgave him.
